Installation Guide
Most DIY customers install each shade in 15–20 minutes with basic tools. Here's how.
What You'll Need
- Power drill or screwdriver
- Pencil and tape measure
- Level
- Step ladder, for taller windows
- Mounting brackets and screws (included with your order)
Installation Steps
1. Unpack and check your shade
Confirm the label on the headrail matches the room and window it's intended for, especially if you ordered multiple shades. Check that the brackets and screws are included.
2. Mark your bracket positions
For inside mount, position brackets at the top corners of the window frame, set back enough for the headrail to clear any obstructions. For outside mount, mark positions on the wall or trim above the window, using a level to make sure both brackets are at the same height.
3. Install the brackets
Pre-drill pilot holes if mounting into wood trim or studs — this prevents splitting and makes driving screws easier. Use wall anchors if mounting into drywall without a stud.
4. Snap the headrail into the brackets
Most shades click securely into place — you'll typically hear or feel a snap on each side. Give the headrail a gentle tug to confirm it's seated properly before letting go.
5. Attach the valance (if included)
If your shade includes a valance, clip it onto the front of the headrail to hide the mounting hardware for a finished look.
6. Test the operation
Raise and lower the shade a few times to make sure it operates smoothly and is level. For cordless or motorized shades, confirm it stops where expected.
Motorized Shades
Motorized shades install the same way as manual shades — mount the brackets and snap in the headrail. Once installed, follow the included instructions to pair your remote and, if applicable, position the solar panel charger where it will get direct sunlight.
